TFGA Awarded TWNIC Grant to Advance Inclusive Internet Governance
We are proud to announce that Tech for Good Asia (TFGA) has been selected as a recipient of the Taiwan Network Information Center (TWNIC) research grant to launch a new initiative advancing inclusive and participatory internet governance in Taiwan.
As a recognized NGO working at the intersection of technology and democracy across the Asia region, TFGA is committed to ensuring that digital governance reflects the voices and needs of diverse communities. This new project builds on that mission, aiming to create a deliberative, citizen-centered model of internet policymaking—one that brings traditionally excluded perspectives into the process and translates them into meaningful, actionable recommendations.
In collaboration with Taiwan’s civic tech community, TFGA will pilot a series of inclusive governance protocols designed to bring diverse public voices into internet policymaking through structured, participatory deliberation.
Through a series of structured public deliberations, the project will engage a representative group of participants in balanced discussions on pressing internet policy issues. These conversations will be supported by accessible background materials, expert input, and professional facilitation, with both in-person and online components designed to maximize inclusion and accessibility.
Special attention will be given to incorporating the experiences and concerns of traditionally underrepresented groups, such as older adults, who are often vulnerable to issues like scams and health misinformation but remain underrepresented in policymaking.
We extend our deepest gratitude to TWNIC for its support of this initiative. A full list of all grant awardees is available on the TWNIC website: the announcement can be found here, and it includes TFGA among other outstanding recipients.
We look forward to working with citizens, policymakers, and civil society over the coming months and sharing our findings and recommendations in the near future.
